During this century, Orientalist debates in Britain on the contents and how-ness of education in India under the British colonial rule were entirely preoccupied British elite society. Among these views and discussions, the short essay entitled “Minute on Indian Education” by the English historian and politician Thomas Babingotn Macaulay in 1835 attracted much attention. In his essay, Macaulay wrote that anglicized Hindus must be created who has the role of intermediaries between the colonized Hindus and British colonialists. Therefore, in this article, the researcher aims to apply the theory of Orientalism coined by the Palestinian-American critic Edward Said in order to analyze the influence and policy of the colonial scheme of English language education in nineteenth century India. Furthermore, the long-term consequences of Macaulay’s policy in the field of teaching English language and colonial literature will be addressed as well.}, keywords = {Thomas Macaulay,Colonialism,Orientalism,English Language,Edward Said}, title_fa = {گفتمان استعماری در آموزش زبان انگلیسی در هندوستان: بررسی جستار «یادداشتی در باب آموزش هندوستان» اثر توماس مکولی}, abstract_fa = {این مقاله به بررسی سیاست آموزش زبان نظام استعمارگری بریتانیا در هندوستان در قرن نوزدهم می‌پردازد. در طول این سده، در بریتانیا مباحث شرق‌شناسانه نظیر محتوا و چگونگی آموزش در هندوستان تحت استعمار بریتانیا جامعه‌ی نخبگان بریتانیایی را سخت درگیر کرده بود. در میان این دیدگاه‌ها و مباحث، جستار کوتاه «یادداشتی در باب آموزش هندوستان» به نگارش تاریخ‌نگار و سیاست‌مدار انگلیسی توماس ببینگتون مکولی در سال ۱۸۳۵ توجه بسیاری را جلب کرد. در این جستار، مکولی بر این باور بود که باید هندوهای انگلیسی-شده‌ای را تربیت کرد که به عنوان واسطه بین مردم هندوستان تحت استعمار و بریتانیایی‌های استعمارگر نقش ایفا کنند. بنابراین، در این مقاله، پژوهشگر بر آن است تا با استفاده از نظریه‌ی شرق‌شناسی منتقد فلسطینی‌-آمریکایی‌تبار ادوارد سعید، نفوذ و طرح استعماری-ایدئولوژیک مکولی درباره‌ی سیاست آموزش زبان انگلیسی در هندوستان قرن نوزدهم را تجزیه و تحلیل کند. افزون بر این، به پیامدهای درازمدت حاصل از طرح آموزشی مکولی در حوزه‌ی آموزش زبان و ادبیات انگلیسی استعماری نیز اشاره خواهد شد.}, keywords_fa = {توماس مکولی,استعمارگری,شرق‌شناسی,زبان انگلیسی,ادوارد سعید}, url = {https://brjofls.ihcs.ac.ir/article_6862.html}, eprint = {https://brjofls.ihcs.ac.ir/article_6862_44e6c0da4b2030ee4d942469b974272c.pdf} }
